Eastern Drops Second Consecutive Big Sky Match at Portland State

The Portland State University Vikings struck early, and that was all they needed as they defeated the Eastern Washington University women's soccer team 1-0 Friday (Oct. 13) in a Big Sky Conference match in Portland, Ore.

Marianna Palermo scored the only goal of the game for the Vikings in the ninth minute off an assist by Kari Otani.

Eastern was outshot by Portland State 13 to 11 for the match. Tiera Como recorded four saves for the Eagles in the loss.

Portland State is now 2-11 overall and 2-1 in BSC play with the victory. The Eagles drop to 5-9-1 on the year and 1-2 in conference.

Next up for the Eagles is Sacramento State, Sunday (Oct. 15) at 2:30 p.m. in Sacramento, Calif. Thursday (Oct. 19) the Eagles will return home to host Weber State at the Sports and Recreation Center in Cheney, Wash. That game will be played at 3:30 p.m.
