Carrie Conners of the Eastern Washington University women's soccer team was named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Eight third team. The senior has had a 3.63 cumulative grade point average while majoring in biology.
Conners is a defender who graduated from Great Falls (Mont.) High School in 2004 and was a transfer from Walla Walla Community College. She has played in a total of 36 games for the Eagles and has four shots.
She has helped Eastern to a winning season, going 9-8 and placing fifth in the Big Sky Conference with a record of 3-4. Conners earned Big Sky Conference Honorable Mention honors for defenders for the second time in two years.
Eastern has had three previous players earn this award since 2002. In 2005, Eastern had Jennie Summers named to the second team, and Beth Russell was named to the third team.
Summers was a senior from Spokane, Wash., who had a 3.78 GPA cumulative in nursing, and Russell was a senior from Olympia, Wash., with a 3.80 GPA, also in nursing. In 2002, senior Sarah Meyer from Moscow, Idaho, had a 3.95 GPA in English. She was a transfer from North Idaho College.
