Knight Earns All-Big Sky Honorable Mention

Redshirt freshman from Folsom, Calif., finishes 11-10 in singles and 13-8 in doubles

Kelsey Knight of the Eastern Washington University women’s tennis team has earned All-Big Sky Conference honorable mention honors for her performance during the 2009-10 season.

Knight, a redshirt freshman from Folsom, Calif., compiled an 11-10 singles record this season along with a 13-8 doubles record. Knight joined fellow freshman Ryann Warner as the two Eagles with the most singles victories.

Knight lined up at No. 3 singles all but one time this season, as she was victorious in her lone No. 2 singles match of the season Jan. 16 in a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Whitworth. Four of her singles losses came in close three-set matches. Knight teamed up with Caitlin Bampton to put together a 10-3 record at No. 1 doubles.

The Eagles finished the 2009-10 season 10-11 overall, finishing 4-4 in the Big Sky Conference. Eastern returns eight of ten players to next season’s squad.
