Eagles Toppled by Cougars

April 9, 2009

The Eastern Washington University women's tennis team fell to Washington State 7-0 in a non-conference match on Thursday evening (April 9). In one impressive bright note, EWU's top doubles team defeated the No. 1 duo from the Cougars.

In that contest on court one, Amanda Mankovits and Marie Demerath secured an 8-5 decision from Aleksandra Cekic and Ekaterina Kamendova. However, Washington State took 8-3 and 8-5 contests on the other two courts to grab the doubles point.

The Cougars then swept the six singles contest to complete its blanking of the Eagles.

The Eagles will be right back in action in Pullman, Wash., taking on UC Santa Barbara at 10 a.m. on Friday (April 10). The Gauchos are 14-5 after defeating Washington State 5-2 earlier on Thursday.

Eastern will then host two matches on Saturday (April 11), versus Portland at 9 a.m. and against Seattle University at 1 p.m.
