Eagle Women's Tennis Continues Play at Cougar Classic

Sept. 22, 2007

The Eastern Washington University women's tennis team continued play at the Cougar Classic in Pullman, Wash., on Saturday (Sept. 22). Sarah Leuenberger and Amanda Mankovits each contributed two wins on the day (one singles, one doubles).

In doubles play, Rachel Berger and Leuenberger picked up an 8-0 whitewashing of Gonzaga's duo of Katie Colton and Allyson Lee, while Kasey Knox teamed up with Mankovits for a convincing 8-1 victory over Montana's Amanda and Rebecca Bran.

In singles, Leuenberger topped Clare Dodge of Gonzaga, 6-3, 6-1, while Mankovits toppled Montana's Kayla Moyse, 6-4, 6-2.

"We had a great doubles win against a conference opponent and a dominating performance from Sarah Leuenberger," interim head coach Darren Haworth said. "Amanda is playing some very solid aggressive doubles, and she came out strong in singles play."

The Eagles conclude play at the tournament on Sunday (Sept. 23). First serve will be at 9 a.m.
