The Eastern Washington University women's tennis squad completed the fall portion of its schedule at the Duck Classic in Eugene, Ore., over the weekend. The team was able to advance two doubles tandems to the quarterfinal round of the tournament.

In doubles action, the team of Marie Demarath and Amanda Mankovits defeated Santa Clara's Kim Daniel and Myra Davoudi by an 8-6 score before falling to Portland's Lindsey Griffin and Audree Jenks, 8-3. Eagles Kasey Knox and Kerstyn Dolack advanced against SCU's Meghan Madden and Lindsay McBride in a 9-7 thriller before dropping an 8-4 decision to Oregon's Monica Hoz de Vila and Ana Cecilia Olivos. Knox also picked a singles win over Daniel, topping the Bronco, 6-3, 6-1.

"I thought our women did well," head coach Patrick Dreves said. "They had good results, good wins and some real close losses against some top kids, so that's really encouraging this early in the season."

The Eagles now set their sights on the spring dual-match schedule, which is slated to begin in January and culminate with the Big Sky Championship from April 26-28 in Sacramento, Calif.
