Assistant Tennis Coach Named

Oct. 10, 2007

Eastern Washington University interim head men's and women's tennis coach Darren Haworth announced the completion of his coaching staff with the naming of Bryce Cooper as assistant coach.

"He has gained instant respect because of his playing ability," Haworth said. "He has great leadership experience and is very knowledgeable of tennis in the Northwest."

Cooper, who is nearing the completion of a master's degree in business administration with an emphasis in finance from Gonzaga University, brings some impressive tennis experience to Cheney.

At the collegiate level, he played for the Bulldogs from 2002-06. He was team captain his last two seasons at the Spokane school. Cooper has also served as tennis assistant at Spokane Racquet Club since May and directed tournaments the past two summers.

The Eagle men's team plays at the GU/EWU Classic in Spokane from Friday-Sunday (Oct. 5-7). That tournament may move in part or in whole to the Eastern campus in the event of inclement weather. The women will next see action at the Husky Invitational from Nov. 9-11.
