Big Sky Conference Outdoor Championships Underway

After day two of the combined events at the 2007 Big Sky Conference Outdoor track and field Championships in Pocatello, Idaho, Eastern Washington University freshman Jessica Duran finished eighth in the heptathlon.

Duran (Kent, Wash.) scored 4,506 points, a career best for her, which ranks her third in school history. Her previous career best came earlier this season at the second annual Whitworth Multi Event meet in Spokane, Wash., where she scored 4,427 points.

Duran was seventh after day one, with a second place finish in the 200 (25.34) and a third place finish in the shot put (36-4).

Freshman Jordan Oswald (Cheney, Wash.) finished 12th in the men's decathlon with 5,587 points. Oswald is ranked 15th in school history with a career best 5,740 points in the decathlon in which he scored earlier this year at the 36th Annual Pelluer Invitational in Cheney Wash.

The Big Sky Conference Championships continue tomorrow (May 11), beginning with the men's hammer throw at noon pst. Running events will begin at 3 p.m. pst.
