Limpf, Smyth and Nickelson Finish in the Top Ten

Final Stats

Paul Limpf, Alex Smyth and Amber Nickelson led the Eastern Washington University men’s and women’s cross country teams to first- and third-place finishes, respectively, at the first-ever Clash of the Inland Northwest Saturday (Sept. 6) in Spokane, Wash., at Mead High School.

Limpf and the EWU men’s team won the four-team dual scoring meet, a 6,000-meter race. Washington State took second, Gonzaga finished third and the University of Idaho was fourth.

Individually, Limpf won the men’s race with a time of 19:33.6. Sophomore Smyth finished second with a time of 19:42.1.

In the 55-man field, Kyle King was ninth, Bowe Ebding was 16th, Tyler Justice was 19th, and Cody Bradwell was 40th.

Washington State took first on the women’s side, followed by Gonzaga in second. EWU was third and Idaho took fourth.

In the 4,000-meter race, Nickelson finished ninth with a time of 16:04.7. Brittney Williams was 19th with a time of 16:48.8.

Other Eagle finishers included Kelly Downey (23rd), Stephanie Dye (24th) Lauren Matthews (28th), Tera Klein (31st) and Amanda Weaver (41st).

The Eagles have a bye week before heading to the Sundodger Invitational on Sept. 20 in Seattle, Wash.
