Eagles Travel to California and Idaho

April 28, 2008

The Eastern Washington University track and field teams will split this week with athletes going to the Bronco Twilight in Boise, Idaho, on May 2, the Steven Scott Invitational in Irvine, Calif., on May 3 and the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational in Stanford, Calif., on May 4.

Last weekend, the Eagles competed at the Oregon Relays in Eugene, Ore., April 25-26, and the Cougar Invitational in Pullman, Wash., April 26.

Distance runners Mattie Bridgman, Camille Moseley and Paul Limpf all had impressive times in Oregon. Bridgmon finished fifth in the 5,000 with a time of 16:33.60, breaking her own week-old school record of 16:47.65. A week earlier at the Mt. Sac Relays on April 17, she had broken Kari McKay's 14-year-old record of 16:57.71.

Moseley was tenth in the 5,000 in Oregon as she qualified for the NCAA West Regionals and Big Sky Conference Championships with a time of 16:44.09. She also exceeded McKay's old record as Moseley now ranks second in school history behind Bridgmon.

Limpf won the 10,000 meters in Oregon with a time of 29:57.13 that qualified him for the Big Sky Conference Championships. He ranks third in school history, only six seconds from the No. 2 spot and 11 seconds from the school record of 29:48.6 set in 1978 by Rick Adams.

Currently, 30 Eastern athletes have met qualifying standards 37 times for the BSC Championships (May 14-17 in Sacramento, Calif.), including six athletes who have met the standard for the NCAA West Regionals (May 30-31 in Northridge, Calif.). Eastern's regional qualifiers thus far are freshmen Amanda Peterson and Aaron Mettler in the javelin, sophomore Nicole Luckenbach in the hammer, juniors Limpf and Bridgmon in the 5,000 meters and senior Moseley in the 5,000 meters.
