2008: As a freshman, Petroni saw action in nine
matches for the Eagles. She played well in the back row, especially
in the early part of the campaign. In the team’s opening
match of the season against Denver on Aug. 29, she tallied four
digs in a 25-18, 25-17, 25-22 loss to the Pioneers. The following
week, Petroni recorded five digs and had a service ace in an
impressive 25-23, 21-25, 25-23, 25-19 win over Notre Dame. Her
other multi-dig output came Oct. 13 in Eastern’s annual
rivalry match with Gonzaga, as she contributed four to an exciting
25-14, 25-20, 15-25, 24-26, 15-11 win over the Bulldogs.
High School: Petroni was the starting libero at
Mead High School her last two years as a Panther. Her senior
season, she helped lead MHS to its fifth straight 4A state title.
The Panthers beat Spokane rival Lewis & Clark in the
championship match her junior and senior seasons. Additionally, she
lettered in track and field and saw playing time with the
basketball squad. Petroni was also a member of the National Honor
Society, carried a 3.85 grade point average and was a Presidential
Scholarship honoree. At Eastern Washington, she is a finance major.
Her parents are Stephen and Laurie Petroni.
