2008: Hamilton earned All-Big Sky Conference
honorable mention accolades following an outstanding season with
the Eagles. She also excelled in the classroom, as well, receiving
Big Sky All-Academic honors. The second week of the season, she
earned All-Idaho Volleyball Classic accolades after averaging 11.00
assists per set in the weekend’s three contests. She also
contributed 1.73 digs and 0.55 blocks per set at the tournament.
Hamilton finished the season with 9.84 aps, the fifth-highest
average in the league and 104th among NCAA Division I teams. She
also helped the team record 13.00 aps, the 21st-highest average
nationally. That mark also set the pace in the Big Sky. In a sweep
of Arkansas, she not only had 33 assists, but was a menacing force
offensively, as well, hitting at an impressive .571 clip (4-0-7).
Of the 10 times she recorded 45+ assists in 2008, the first came in
a 3-1 win over Notre Dame on Sept. 5, tallying 45 in that contest.
On Sept. 18, in a 3-2 road win over Weber State, Hamilton had 59
assists, the fourth-highest total by any Big Sky player in 2008.
She had an impressive week in late September, not only contributing
11.14 aps in wins over Montana and Montana State, but performing as
an intimidating hitting force herself, hitting at an impressive
.480 clip (14-2-25). She had her second-highest assist total, 55,
in a four-set win over Portland State on Oct. 10 before reaching
that number once again in another 3-1 victory on Nov. 21, that one
over Sacramento State. She had her best hitting performance, a .857
hitting percentage (6-0-7), in a 3-1 victory over Northern Arizona
on Nov. 6. Her second-best average (.727, 8-0-11) came in a 3-0
loss to UNLV on Sept. 13.
2007: For her top performances on the court and in the
classroom, Hamilton was named to the Big Sky Conference
All-Academic team. Hamilton had the highest assist total by an
Eagle in two years with 55 in Eastern Washington’s 3-2 win
over Northern Colorado on Nov. 3. She also hit .455 (6-1-11) in
that contest. On the season, she averaged 7.77 assists per set,
which would have placed her ninth among Big Sky Conference players
if she had seen action in at least 75 percent of Eastern’s
sets (she played in 63 percent, 70 of 112 sets). Hamilton posted
five 40+ assist totals in 2007. Her second-best assist output of
the season came in an impressive three-set sweep over Portland
State on Nov. 10, as she had 44 that evening. Hamilton also tallied
43 helpers in a four-set victory over Idaho State on Oct. 18. Her
season-best block total of seven came in a thrilling five-set win
over Northern Colorado on Nov. 3.
2006 (Arizona): Hamilton saw action in eight sets
and recorded 10 assists, a pair of digs and a block in 2006. In her
lone home appearance of the season, Hamilton tallied a trio of
assists in a three-set sweep of Montana State. She accumulated a
total of four assists in Pacific-10 Conference matches with
Stanford and California (one and three, respectively).
High School: Hamilton was part of two Utah state
championship teams and earned four letters at Lone Peak High
School. She was named a Volleyball Magazine Fab 50 selection and
was ranked 71st nationally on the PrepVolleyball.com Senior Aces
list. The Alpine, Utah, native was also honored as a 2004 and 2005
PrepVolleyball.com High School All-American. Additional accolades
included winning 2003 and 2004 4A State MVP honors and being named
the 2004 Utah Valley Player of the Year. Hamilton is majoring in
biology with a pre-med emphasis. Her parents are Lawrence and
Tamara Hamilton. Her mother played volleyball at BYU, her father
played football and wrestled at BYU, while her brother, Jared,
played defensive line for the Yale football team.
