After a slow start in the Big Sky Conference, the Eastern Washington University women's volleyball team got just what they needed Thursday night (Oct. 5) as the Eagles beat Montana State 3-1 in Bozeman, Mont.
The Eagles (9-7, 2-5) won their second straight conference match with the victory. The game scores were 30-26, 30-24, 24-30, 30-26.
Addie Webster led Eastern with 27 kills and 18 digs. Brittney Page also had a double-double for the Eagles with 15 kills and ten digs. Three other Eagles also had double digit kills in the match: Kerri Beck (14), Chrystal Johnson (12) and Stephanie Baker (ten).
Eastern hit .242 for the match and held the Bobcats to a .189 hitting percentage. The Eagles had 81 kills to 51 for Montana.
With the win, the Eagles are tied for seventh place in the BSC with Northern Arizona (6-10, 2-5). Both teams are just a half game back of Montana State for sixth place (2-4, 6-9).
EWU will try to continue to move up in the conference rankings as they play at Montana (4-2, 7-8) Saturday (Oct. 7) at 6:00 p.m. The next home match for the Eagles will be Wednesday Oct. 11, as Eastern will host Idaho in a non-conference match at 7:05 p.m in Reese Court in Cheney, Wash.
