Hayley Hills of the Eastern Washington University volleyball team earned Co-Big Sky Conference Player of the Week accolades on Monday (Oct. 13) after helping lead the team to a 23-25, 26-24, 25-23, 25-21 defeat of first-place Portland State on Friday (Oct. 10).
She had an outstanding 20-20 night in the win, contributing 20 kills and 21 digs. The dig total was a career high for Hills. The victory helped move the Eagles (7-9, 4-3 BSC) to just behind the Vikings (7-9, 5-2 BSC) in the Big Sky standings, albeit tied for fourth place in the ultra-tight race for the regular-season title.
The junior outside hitter is currently leading the Big Sky in kills per set and ranks 13th nationally in that category with 4.38.
The set of honors is her second of the season (she previously earned POW accolades on Sept. 29) and third of her career (Hills attained honors on Oct. 22, 2007, as well).
Sharing the honors with Hills this week was Weber State's Chelsea Blair.
Hills and the Eagles take on Gonzaga (6-13) tonight (Oct. 13) on the GU campus at 7 p.m.
