Eagles Compete at the Montana Invitational

The Eastern Washington University cross country teams competed Saturday (Oct. 4) at the Montana Invitational in Missoula, Mont., where Amber Nickelson finished 10th out of 69 runners, and Cody Bradwell was 25th in the men’s race.

Nickelson had a time of 18:52 in the 5,000-meter race, just 42 seconds behind first-place finisher Sara Trane of Washington State.

Other Eastern women finishers included Brittney Williams (23rd, 19:50), Stephanie Dye (25th, 19:54), Kelly Downey (44th, 21:02), Lauren Matthews (45th, 21:08), Tera Klein (53rd, 21:46), Amanda Weaver (54th, 21:50) and April Axtell (61st, 22:58).

The lonely male runner Bradwell had a time of 27:12 in the 8,000-meter race. He was 25th out of 65 runners.

Eastern’s cross country teams will have next week off before competing at the EWU Invitational (Oct. 18) in Cheney, Wash. The women’s race will start at 10 a.m. with the men to follow at 10:30 a.m.
