Hello for the first time, Eag Nation!
I am excited to serve you as Eastern’s new Athletic Director. We’re just wrapping up my first week on the job and I am overwhelmed by how my family and I have been welcomed by the Eastern Washington community. thank you!
I’m looking forward to meeting more of our students, campus leaders, community partners and fans in the coming months. Can you believe fall sports are just around the corner?!
Today I was standing on our Eagle Soccer Field, where in less than a month, on August 24, we’ll host the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers for our first home competition of the season.
In less than two weeks, our Eagle football team will return to campus for fall camp, preparing for our September 2 battle against North Dakota State at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. Eagle volleyball, cross country and golf are each getting ready for their fall seasons as well.
Before football camp even begins, I’m excited to attend the Big Sky Football Kickoff event just up the road at Northern Quest Resort and Casino. On Saturday Night, President McMahan and I will be there to help celebrate as Eagle legends Michael Roos and Kim Exner are inducted into the Big Sky Hall of Fame.
I hope you join me at the Red, White & BBQ event at Reese Court here in Cheney on Friday, August 25. Come along for a great event that includes a tour of our new Gatorade Fuel Station, updated football locker room and recently renovated athletic training facilities.
Finally, I have been clear over the last few weeks that our department will be committed to three areas of service: (1) our student-athletes, (2) our campus and (3) our community. We are beginning to execute department goals that will help set the tone for the success we expect to have at Eastern Washington University. I look forward to collaborating across campus as our student-athletes, coaches and staff will be firmly committed to our responsibility to enhance, lift up and amplify the University’s mission.
