CHENEY, Wash. — Spring schedules are wrapping up this week for Eastern Washington Athletics with four teams in competition. It's game week for Football with the annual Red-White game on Friday night to conclude the team's spring ball schedule. Track and Field splits its squad for two meets in final preparation for the Big Sky Championships. Soccer and volleyball host their final matches of their spring schedules this Saturday.
Football — Red-Game (Friday, April 26 at 6 p.m.) - Free Admission
Eastern Washington finishes its spring practice schedule with the Red-White game this Friday at Roos Field. Kickoff will be at 6 p.m. and will be broadcast live on SWX. The game is free and open to the public to attend. The Eagles have held 13 practices, including two scrimmages, leading up to the spring finale on Friday night.
Track & Field — at Oregon State High Performance Meet (Friday-Saturday(April 26-27), All Day), at Desert Heat Classic (Saturday, April 27, All Day)
Eastern competes in its final two meets of the regular season before the Big Sky Championships in Bozeman, Mont. in two weeks (May 8-11). EWU sends one group to the Oregon State High Performance Meet for two days in Corvallis, Ore. Another group heads to Tucson, Ariz. for the Desert Heat Classic, hosted by the University of Arizona.
The Eagles competed at the Cougar Classic last Saturday (4/20), winning multiple events in Pullman. Dyvhine Fonoti (Hammer Throw), Nattie Ruzauskas (1500m) and Lucas Couron (Pole Vault) earned first place in their respective events. 10 more Eagles earned podium spots to lead the team to another successful meet.
Volleyball — vs. Eastern Oregon (Saturday, April 27, 1:30 p.m.) - Free Admission
The Eagles finish their spring matches this weekend, hosting Eastern Oregon on Saturday at Reese Court. First serve for the game will be at 1:30 p.m. The team is expected to return 13 players from the 2023 team. Eastern advanced to the Big Sky Tournament semifinals after defeating the No. 2 seed Northern Colorado (3-2). It was the program's first postseason win since 2008.
Soccer — vs. Central Washington (Saturday, April 27 at 1 p.m.) - Free Admission
EWU closes out its spring slate of matches with Central Washington making the trip to Cheney on Saturday. Kickoff for the game will be at 1 p.m. from EWU Soccer Field. The Eagles have posted a pair of wins this spring against the University of British Columbia, and most recently, against Bellevue College this past Saturday. The team finished the 2023 season with a 2-14-1 overall record and 1-6-1 in Big Sky matches.
