Comments from Head Coach Stan Kerr on Top Performers . . . "If you enjoy fireworks, you were treated to a great display of performances tonight put on by the EWU track and field teams.Â
Jeremy VanAssche may have provided the loudest boom with his top ten all time Big Sky Performance in the 60m. He bested a stellar 60-meter field that had several of the current top sprinters in the Conference. Joining Jeremy in the 60-meter clinic was
Tyree Fort, who posted an auto qualifying time in the 60 for the Conference Championships."Â Â
Â
"
Aaron Cunningham had another solid outing in the weight throw and shot put. I feel our high jumpers
Andrew Morgan and
Forrest Wallace had breakthrough-type performances tonight.
Drew Schreiber made his debut as an Eagle thinclad tonight. He's going to be a shining star in our program."Â Â
"Overall, I thought we had a very productive night. This trip to Bozeman has special
dividends in that we were very productive on the track & field while experiencing the venue we'll return to in a couple of weeks for the championships."
Â
Comments from Head Coach Marcia Mecklenburg on Top Performers . . . "
Kaytlyn Coleman put the best series of throws together of her life and set a new school record and MSU Fieldhouse record in the weight throw. Then she came back and won the shot put with a personal record of 47-9. It was also the third meet in a row that Kaytlyn and
Kelsie Forcier went 1-2 in the weight throw. Keslie also threw a PR of 60-11 1/2 in the weight throw."
"I was thrilled for our women jumpers and vaulters who have struggled for a couple of weeks.
Dominique Butler put together a great triple jump to win it and qualify for Conference with a jump of 38-1 1/2. In the high jump,
Kaitlyn Grunst had a huge PR of 5-5. Vaulters
Macey Weitz and
Anandae Clark both cleared 12-6, placing second and third and Macey's mark qualified her for Conference."
"On the track, the sprinters went to town, led by
Rebecca Tarbert. She was another double winner for EWU placing first in both the 60 and 200 and qualifying for Conference in the 200.
Brooke Monson also ran a great 200 and placed second to Tarbert. Our 4x400 relay of
Erika Lombardo,
Paige Hammock,
Leanne Asper, and
Brooke Monson put a cap on the meet, winning the event with a season best time of 3:53.72."
"The team as a whole continues to improve as we get closer to the Big Sky Conference Championships. It will be fun to see what they do in three weeks when we are back in Bozeman for that meet."
