@EWUSoccer Extends Scoring Streak in Loss to Portland State

Turning Point
A penalty kick off of a handball in the opening minutes of the first half, and an additional score 10 minutes later, would prove the difference maker in today's match, as the Vikings were able to jump out to an early lead.

The Eagles, however, were not held scoreless on the afternoon. A cross from senior Cassie Black was converted by Williams for Eastern's only score of the match in the 27th minute. The goal was scored from 12 yards out and was put just inside the right post.

Top Performers
Williams would tally a single goal for the match off of two total shots, while Black earned her fifth assist on the year and taking two shots of her own.

Senior Jessica Wallace, junior Tasha Luu, and freshmen Savannah Hoekstra and M'Kenna Hayes would all earn a single shot for the contest.

Key Stats
Eastern battled throughout the entire game and kept right with Portland State, totaling five shots in the first half compared to the Vikings seven.

The Eagles also had a number of chances that were delivered on target. EWU tallied four shots on goal for a .500 shot percentage.

Quoting Coach Bodnar
"We got physically out played against an opponent that played extremely direct. We weren't ready to begin the match in the first half and gave up two soft goals. Despite scoring a good goal and showing some bounce back in the first half after going down early, we really didn't have much effort in the second. We are all disappointed in our perfromance and need to find a way to get a split Sunday in California."

Game Notes
*
Williams' goal in today's game was her fourth of the year. She has now earned a total 10 points over the past five games.
*The Eagles continue to extend their scoring streak this season. Eastern has now scored at least once in nine straight competitions.
*Black's fifth assist this afternoon now leads the entire team and is the most assists she has earned in a single season in her career at EWU.
