Performance Mental Skills
- The Performance Mental Skill Class (PHED 396) offered to all EWU freshman and transfer athletes. The class is taught by Certified Mental Performance Consultant, Coach T.J. Conley, who earned his (CMPC) and is now well qualified to provide mental skills coaching to Eastern's student-athletes.
Â
- Team Step Back Session brought to us by Extra Mile Institute and facilitated by all five of Athletic Performance Staff members.
- The Step Back Sessions are efficient, value-driven discussions integrated into existing team workout routines, for both in and out of season. Utilizing EMI’s digital platform and framework, the Athletic Performance staff integrates Step Back Sessions directly into their routines and workflows, achieving sustainable and scalable impact. Actionable tools that EMI provides gives measurable improvements in performance and mental wellness through the sessions instruction. A critical outcome that has been documented is an increased satisfaction and engagement from the student-athletes through the team-focused, well-being-driven conversations with staff members.
Â
- Individual Mental Skills training available through EWU and local practitioners. The local practitioners include Dr. Michael Ochi, Ryan Sawyer, Brandon Davis, and Ashlee Bradshaw. These training sessions will expand the knowledge base for student-athletes and build off of the lessons taught from the Performance Mental Skill Classes and Team Step Back Sessions.Â
