Box Score Cheney, Wash. – Senior Kelsey Julian led three Eagles with double-figure kills but the Eastern Washington University women's volleyball team was upended in five sets by visiting Seattle in its home debut Tuesday, Sept. 16, at Reese Court.

EWU falls to 4-6 with the loss while the Redhawks improve to 3-7. Set scores for the match were: 25-17, 13-25, 25-15, 17-25, 15-11.
Turning Point
Up 2-1 heading into the fourth set, Eastern took an early 4-1 lead only to see Seattle battle back, going up 9-7 and forcing the Eagles to call timeout. The Redhawks continued to build their lead en route to winning the set and forcing a decisive fifth frame.
SU saw its momentum continue into the fifth set, racing out to a 4-1 advantage. EWU would pull to within one, 5-4, on a kill from senior Kelsey Julian, but the visitors responded, opening up a 12-7 lead that proved to be just enough to hold off a late charge from the Eagles.
Top Performers
Julian led all players with 20 kills on 33 swings, hitting a stellar .455 for the match to go along with four digs.
Junior Allie Schumacher added 12 kills while classmate Kellen Barfield hit .500 and recorded a season-best 10 kills, adding a pair of blocks.
Sophomore Sophie Miller nearly had a triple-double, tallying 33 assists, 10 digs and eight kills, all of which are career highs.
Key Statistics
Both teams hit at a .320 clip on the night, committing an identical number of attack errors with 19. Both teams also had five service aces, but EWU had 10 miscues behind the service line compared to the Redhawks' six.
Seattle finished with eight team blocks to the Eagles' four and notched 46 digs compared to Eastern's 43 digs.

"For us, it came down to consistency. We need to be more consistent from one set to another. We allowed them to take advantage of our inconsistency."
Match Notes
* Eastern saw its perfect 3-0 mark in five-set matches come to an end, falling in five sets for the first time this season.
* EWU hit better than .300 for the second time this season, falling to 1-1 in matches in which it hits over .300 as a team.
* Julian recorded at least 20 kills for the second time in her career, falling one shy of her career high of 21 kills.
