Box Score Missoula, Mont. – A tremendous two goal performance by freshman Savannah Hoekstra was able to give the Eastern Washington women's soccer team a 2-0 victory over Colorado State for the Eagles' last game of the Montana Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 21.

Turning Point
The Eagles jumped right out of the gate and struck gold early to open up today's competition. Only six minutes into the first half, Hoekstra was able to give Eastern an early edge against Colorado State by converting a pass from freshman Chloe Williams into a swift breakaway goal.
Eleven minutes later, Hoekstra was able to find the net once more by battling for the ball while navigating through a cluster of Eagle and Ram players. The second goal by the freshman forward would give Eastern a two goal lead which stood strong for the rest of the match.
Top Performers
Hoekstra's two score and four shot performance led all Eagle players this morning.
Williams earned her second assist on the year while taking a single shot.
Defensively, senior goalkeeper Nathalie Schwery and the Eastern backline earned another shutout victory by stifling the Rams attack. Schwery also was able to earn a total six saves on the morning.
Key Stats
A quick offensive start for the Eagles would be the difference maker for today's game. EWU would fire off a total of eight shots in the first half compared to CSU's total of four.
The Rams, however, were able to answer back in the second half, increasing their shot total to 15 for the entire game. Eastern was close behind, finishing with a total of 14 shots.

"I think we responded really well early in the first half after our performance on Friday. We made some lineup changes that worked out for us. Hoekstra had a great day getting behind their backline and we also had some great service from players underneath. Our first half was definitely the best we have played all season. It was overall a really good performance by our team today."
Game Notes
*For the first time in program history the Eagles have scored in six straight matches to start the year beating the previous best of five.
*Eastern's 3-3 record is the best record for the team since 2007 all while scoring a total of 12 goals over the course of the six games.
*Hoekstra's two goals in today's match against the Rams increased her goal total to four on the year which currently leads the Eagles. Her point total also increased up to eight which leads the entire Eastern team.
*Schwery earned her third shutout victory on the year maintaining the team's .500 shutout percentage
