Box Score

Match Highlights

Cheney, Wash – The Eastern Washington women's soccer team tied the program record for goals in a match Sunday, Sept. 28, beating Weber State, 5-1.

Won-Loss Records
Eastern closed out the weekend by improving to 4-4 and to 1-1 in Big Sky conference play, while the Wildcats drop to 3-8 overall and 0-2 in the league.

Turning Point
After an incredible unassisted tying goal by freshman Chloe Williams to close out the first half, the Eagles were able to quickly gain a lead in the opening minutes of the following period. A corner kick from Williams in the 47th minute would lead to a goal from sophomore Kiana Hafferty. The goal would end up jump starting an already electric Eagle offense.

Just three minutes after Eastern's second goal of the match, freshman Savannah Hoekstra would play a beautiful pass to senior Cassie Black, who furthered the Eagle lead. Two more goals by Hoekstra and Black followed shortly after, finishing the game, 5-1.

Top Performers
The Eagles had a wonderful combination of fresh faces and veterans performing exceptionally well on the pitch today.

Black had a stellar day on the field scoring twice, while earning five shots on target out of a total of six.

Williams showed her offensive prowess as well this morning by taking five shots and scoring once in the early minutes of the game.

Hafferty and Hoekstra both earned a goal in today's competition as well.

Senior goalkeeper Nathalie Schwery performed well in between the sticks and was one save shy of tying her best of 11 saves in a single game.

Key Stats
Eastern Washington outshot Weber State in both stages of the game. The Eagles finished the first half with 11 shots, compared to the Wildcats first half tally of 10.

In the second period, EWU took a total of nine stabs at the net, while WSU took eight.

Quoting Coach Bodnar
"We made some adjustments to our shape entering the second half so we wouldn't be so wide open. We also challenged our players at half time and there was a great response from each of them. There were some great performances today from our players up at the top of the field."
