Team and Individual Results
Carter Ledwith and
Rees Jacot were the top finishers for Eastern Washington University as they helped lead a strong team effort at the 45
th Charles Bowles Invitational on Saturday (Oct. 5). Â Willamette University served as this weekend's host in Salem, Ore., as the season continued for the Eagles.
Strong performances helped lead the Eastern men to a third place team finish overall, and the women to a fourth place team finish overall. Eastern was one of a whopping 17 schools to participate in the races.
Ledwith led the Eastern men with a time of 24:52.6, which was good enough for a fifth place finish overall in the Men's Cardinal 8,000-meter race.
Isaac Barville finished close behind Ledwith in ninth place with a time of 24:59.4. As for Jacot, a finishing time of 18:22.6 was good enough for a 10
th place finish overall in the Women's Cardinal 5,000-meter course.
"I'm really proud of our teams today," said head coach
Sam Read. "After being away from racing for three weeks we were crisp and prepared minus a little sickness."
Up next on the schedule for the Eagles is the Sasquatch Invite on (Oct. 18), taking place in Spokane, Wash., at the Downriver Golf Course. The very next day Eastern will compete in Sunnyvale, Calif., at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational on (Oct. 19). The Santa Clara Invitational will be Eastern's final regular season meet.

More Comments from Head Coach Sam Read . . .
On Men's Race: "The best thing I saw today was that our guys really challenged themselves. They closed the spread between our runners which we will need to continue to do to be successful.
Carter Ledwith ran his fastest time ever and found himself as our top guy today. You can see his fitness is there and he's going to come alive these last few meets.
Ethan Green ran a really tough race, running most of it in no man's land, providing a depth to our front pack. There were many more PRs today which shows that we are really stepping up going into the second half of our season."
On Women's Race: "The women had a fierce pack today. They rolled through the first mile 5-wide in the perfect position. The second mile charge was led by (team captain)
Megan Pitzman. That push really helped make the race and propel many PRs for everyone in the pack. It's just really exciting seeing such a young lineup performing at this level. Today was a good step but there is so much more to come."
