WALLA WALLA, Wash. — The Eastern Washington women's cross-country team finished fourth at the Whitman Open, scoring 116 points among seven teams.

Head coach Sam Read noted, "Small group today but they did a great job representing the squad. Our upperclassmen who ran today (Amanda and Kaiya) used this opportunity to both walk away with PRs. We also got some valuable experience for our freshmen and sophomores that had to hold down scoring spots for us!"

Amanda Nygard was the top finisher for the Eagles, placing 15th with a time of 23:04.10, followed closely by Adrienne Root in 19th with a time of 23:16.40. Other scoring runners included Charlotte Terry in 27th, Emma Tomlinson in 31st, and Kaiya Sollie in 32nd.

Director of Track and Field/Cross Country Erin Tucker praised the team's efforts: "Good effort for the ladies fighting to make the Big Sky roster. What I appreciate about this team is when they are given opportunities, they do their best to maximize them and that's all we can do. Go Eags!"
