Athletics extends streak to 56th consecutive quarter with GPA over 3.0

The “Streak” continued through the winter quarter

CHENEY, Wash. — Another quarter complete and another GPA above 3.0 for Eastern Washington athletics. Eastern extended the "Streak" to 56 quarters following the Eagle student-athletes' combined 3.42 GPA for the winter quarter. 248 EWU student-athletes worked to continue the streak into 2026.

The "Streak" dates back to the fall quarter of 2007 and has been extended by Eastern student-athletes for 19 years. The 12 Eagle athletic programs all posted team GPAs of 3.0 or better.

"I'm extremely proud of the consistency our Eagle student-athletes continue to show in the classroom, extending our 3.0 GPA streak to 56 consecutive quarters," said Director of Athletics Tim Collins. "Their performance during the winter quarter reflects the discipline and commitment they bring to balancing academics and athletics, and it's a standard we strive to uphold every day."

Women's tennis carried the top program GPA at 3.78, followed by women's basketball (3.74) and women's golf (3.72).

In total, 55 EWU student-athletes earned 4.0 GPAs across all programs. Women's Track and Field/Cross Country led all programs with 16 4.0s. Eastern's student-athletes continue to maintain a strong 3.49 cumulative GPA overall.
