“The Streak” extended to 57 quarters after Athletics posts GPA above 3.0 in spring

Eastern Washington’s student-athletes continue to prioritize academics

CHENEY, Wash. — With the 2025-26 academic year concluded, Eastern Washington athletics has maintained its academic standing with another quarter carrying a GPA above 3.0. EWU student-athletes extended "The Streak" to 57 quarters after posting a GPA of 3.39. The GPA was achieved by the combined efforts of 248 student-athletes across 12 sports.

The "Streak" dates back to the fall quarter of 2007 and has been extended by Eastern student-athletes for 19 years. All 12 EWU athletic programs posted team GPAs of 3.0 or better.

"Extending our GPA 'Streak' to 57 consecutive quarters is a testament to the commitment our Eagle student-athletes make to academic excellence every day," Director of Athletics Tim Collins said. "Their success during the spring quarter reflects the dedication, discipline, and hard work they bring to both the classroom and competition. Maintaining that standard of excellence remains a core value of our athletic department, and this achievement is a direct reflection of the commitment our coaches and staff have to supporting the success and development of our student-athletes."

Women's tennis set the pace with a 3.75 GPA, followed closely by women's basketball, holding a 3.73 GPA. Men's golf had the top GPA on the men's side at 3.31.

For the spring, 44 student-athletes carried a 4.0 GPA, with women's track and field/cross-country boasting 11 perfect marks. Football followed with nine 4.0 GPAs.

EWU student-athletes currently carry a 3.4 cumulative GPA, showing consistency in the classroom quarter after quarter.
