2017-18 Track and Field: Outdoor: Had an eighth-place finish in the 1,500 meters at the Al Manuel Northwest Dual with a time of 4:24.30. His best finish was a fourth-place finish in the 10,000 meters at the Beach Invitational with a time of 31:50.70. Indoor: Named to the Big Sky All-Academic team. Hommel set a personal best in the 3,000 meters, and a 14th place finish, with a time of 9:01.21 at the Idaho Duals.

2017 Cross Country: Named to the Big Sky All-Academic team. His best finish was a third-place finish at Montana in the 4.97 mile run with a 26:14 time. Set a personal best of 26:14 and a fourth-place finish against Montana State in the 4.97 mile. Competed at the Big Sky Conference Cross Country Championships in the 8,000 meters with a time of 26:47.2. Hommel also ran  at the NCAA Division I West Region Cross Country Championships in the 10,000 meters with a mark of 33:20. Named to the Big Sky All-Academic team.

2016-17 Track and Field: Outdoor: Earned 13th in the 10,000 meter run, finishing in 31:35.66, also a personal-best. Had his best finish at the Al Manuel Northwest Invitational with a fourth-place finish in the 5,000 meters with a 15:25 time. Indoor: Took 15th in the 5,000-meter at the Big Sky Championships with at time of 15:49.40. Took second at the Vandal Indoor Invitational with a time of 9:26.53 in the 3,000-meter run.

2016 Cross Country: Had best times in the 6,000 (19:19.9), 8,000 (25:04) and 10,000 (32:06.2) in the cross country season.

Spokane Falls CC: Two-time NWAC champion team at Spokane Falls CC from 2014-15. NWAC All-American in 2016. Hommel has personal bests in the 8,000 with a time of 25:29, 5,000 with a time of 15:29, and 10,000 with a time of 32:52.

High School: Hommel was an eight-time letter winner for Central Valley HS. At Central Valley was 2012 WIAA 4A state cross country champions.

Personal: Son of Sally and Gary Hommel. Interdisciplinary liberal arts major, and has a 3.71 gpa at Eastern thus far.
