High School: Graduated from North Central HS in 2020. Taylor closed her career with four appearances at the State Championships in cross country, placing in the top nine three times and helping her team to a trio of consecutive titles. She placed sixth at the 2019 WIAA State 3A Championships in her senior season, helping North Central win the title with 20 points compared to 84 for the runner-up. Her time of 18:11.90 on the 5,000-meter course was fourth on her team as NC went 1-2-3-6-8 in team scoring. Earlier in the season, she had a best of 18:04.6 on a 5,000-meter course. Taylor went on to place 29th at the club-affiliated Northwest Regional Championships and 67th at the Nike Cross Nationals to help North Spokane to finishes of second and sixth, respectively. As a junior in 2018, Taylor placed ninth at the State 3A Championships with a time of 18:49.5 as the Indians won the title with 21 points. She also placed 40th to help North Spokane finish fifth at the Northwest Regional Championships. Taylor placed seventh at State as a sophomore in 2017, finishing with a time of 18:24.2 to help NC win the first of its three titles with 42 points. She went on the place 46th at Regionals as North Spokane finished seventh. She made her State debut as a freshman in 2016 and had a time of 20:56.6 to finish 83rd. Her cross country success transferred over to track and field where she made a pair of appearances at the WIAA State 3A Championships in the 3,200 meters. She was 12th as a junior in 2019 with a time of 11:09.50, and was sixth as a sophomore in 2018 with a clocking of 11:03.77. Her personal best in that came as a junior when she had a time of 11:00.80 to place fourth at the District 8 Championships, and her best in the 1600 came as a sophomore with a time of 5:15.79. North Central placed second in the State in her sophomore season and then was fourth in her junior year. She was coached in high school by Dempsey Ortega.
Personal: Interested in majoring in geology or environmental science at EWU. Born 12/31/01 in Spokane, Wash. Her full first name is Marielise, but she went by Marie in high school. Parents are Jeshu and Anna Taylor.
