Personal Care Attendant Policy:
Eastern Washington University will provide complimentary admission for personal care attendants (PCAs) whose attendance is required to enable ticketed guests with severe disabilities (i.e., individuals who require around-the-clock assistance with all aspects of daily life) to attend events. The guest can purchase a ticket in the ADA seating area and the PCA will be given a complimentary ticket in the same area without charge. The PCA shall not participate in any services and attractions separate and apart from the guest who requires the assistance of the PCA.
Any request for complimentary admission for a PCA must be made at the time of purchase of the guest's ticket and through the EWU ADA Compliance Officer at 509-359-6612.
If EWU discovers that the guest or PCA has misrepresented the purpose of the PCA's attendance, or that the PCA has acted as a guest instead of performing the functions of the PCA while at an event, EWU reserves the right to take all appropriate action including ejecting both the PCA and guest from the event and barring the PCA and guest from future entry.
Accessible Seating:
What is an accessible seat and who can use one?
Accessible seats are spaces specifically designed for wheelchairs and include features such as an accessible approach, location at grade, clear floor space, and larger dimensions.
People with mobility disability who require accessible seating because of their disability are permitted to purchase tickets for accessible seats. This group includes people who use wheelchairs, those who use other mobility devices and people who cannot climb steps or walk long distances because of significant arthritis or severe respiratory, circulatory or cardiac conditions. Individuals who, because of their disability, cannot sit in a straight –back chair or those whose service dogs cannot fit under a non-accessible seat or lie safely in the aisle are also permitted to purchase accessible seats. The individual with the need for disability seating is entitled to purchase their seat and one companion seat at the same location.
Tickets for accessible seats may be sold to individuals who require accessible seating themselves or to someone purchasing on their behalf. People with disabilities who do not require the specific features of accessible seating but merely have a preference for them are not entitled to purchase accessible seats.
