At Eastern
Lucas Hughes is a former EWU golfer for the 2025-2026 season, playing in 9 of the 10 events. His best finish for the team was tied 16^th at the Big Sky Conference Championships at Wigwam Resort with a score of 218 (+2).
 
Prior to Eastern
He began his college golf career playing Club Golf at Grand Canyon University. He was Part of back-to-back National Collegiate Club Golf Association (NCCGA) Team National Champions in Fall 2023 at Dancing Rabbit Golf Club in Philadelphia, Miss. and the Spring 2024 at Winstar Golf Club in Thackerville, Okla.  He had individual finishes of T4 (E) at Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex for Spring 2023 Nationals and T2 (-2) at Winstar Golf Club for Spring 2024 Nationals.
 
He started playing Division I golf at Eastern Michigan University as a transfer during the 2024-25 season.
 
He grew up playing high school and junior golf in Bend, Oregon. He was a part of a record-breaking team win at the 2022 OSAA State Championships playing for Summit High School. This team also placed third at the 2022 National High School Golf Association Championships.
 
Academics
He is currently an Exercise Science major at EWU. He finished the 2025-26 academic year with a GPA of 3.97 helping him to make the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.
 
Committees and Leadership roles
During his time as a student-athlete at Eastern Washington, he participated in representative roles for EWU SAAC and the Big Sky Conference Olympic Sports Committee. He also served as team captain for his final year at EWU.
While he was a junior golfer, he gained some coaching experience volunteering for junior camps at Aubrey Glen Golf Club and volunteering as a coach for the Central Oregon Special Olympics Golf Team.
