Alex Hobbs joined the Eastern Washington staff in July 2024, bringing valuable experience both on the court and on the sidelines. In April of 2025, he was moved into the roll of Assistant Coach. Prior to arriving at Eastern, Hobbs served as an assistant coach at Carroll College during the 2023–2024 season. He then transitioned to Eastern as a graduate assistant and director of player development.

Before starting his coaching career, Before transitioning into coaching, Hobbs was a standout guard at Boise State University. A dynamic scorer, he became a member of the Broncos' 1,000-point club. In 2018, he was named the Mountain West Conference Sixth Man of the Year, and followed that up in 2019 with All-Conference honors. Over his collegiate career, Hobbs appeared in 120 games with 42 starts, helping Boise State earn two NIT appearances.

After college, Hobbs played professionally for the Kordall Steelers in Luxembourg, Germany. In his lone season overseas, he led the league in scoring and was named First Team All-Import.
