Originally from Chico, California, was hired by Coach Best and Coach Anderson in January 2025, bringing with him a strong legacy of leadership, perseverance, and character.
A former walk-on at Eastern Washington University (2022–2024), York earned a partial scholarship, then a full scholarship, and was eventually named a team captain. He was recognized as a 2024 All-Big Sky Football honoree and was a three-time member of the Big Sky All-Academic Team. In 2024, he was also selected for the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society.
That same year, he received the Pat Roberts Memorial Award, given to the EWU football player who makes everyone around him better through superior work ethic, determination, leadership, and perseverance. The award honors a player who may not be the most naturally gifted, but who does everything in their power to maximize their talents.
York earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies with a minor in Coaching and a Leadership Certificate from Eastern Washington University. He also holds an Associate in Arts in Social and Behavioral Science with Honors from Butte College.
He is married to his wife, Ashley.
Playing Career
2024 (Senior)
- Played in all 12 games while starting nine this season.
- Recorded 9 catches for 79 yards this season.
- Had a career-high 53 receiving yards vs. Montana (9/28/24).
2023 (Junior)
- Named to the Big Sky Conference All-Academic Team.
- Played in all 11 games while starting in two games.
- Had four receptions for 31 yards at Fresno State (9/9/23).
- Caught three passes against Montana State, including a 16-yard reception (11/11/23).
- Defensively, recorded two tackles on the season.
2022 (Sophomore)
- Named to the Big Sky Conference All-Academic Team.
- Played in all 11 games in his first season as an Eagle, catching two passes for three yards and a touchdown against Portland State (10/29/22).
Prior to Eastern
- Butte College (2020-21*, 2021)
- Spent two seasons at Butte College where his dad coaches the defensive line.
- Played both tight end and long snapper at Butte where he tallied 14 receptions for 174 yards and a touchdown last season, finishing the year 7-4.
- Also played baseball at Butte, batting .373 with 24 RBIs and three home runs as a catcher and a third baseman.
High School
- Graduated from Pleasant Valley High School in Chico, Calif., in 2020.
- Coached by Mark Cooley.
- In two seasons (23 games), he recorded 29 receptions for 374 yards and four touchdowns.
- Ran for 199 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 27 carries.
- On the defensive side, he recorded 130 tackles, 11.5 sacks, one interception, a blocked field goal, a forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries.
- Helped guide Pleasant Valley to a Division 4-AA State Championship in 2018-19 after a 10-3 season.
