Early has been a valued member of the Eastern Washington University community for 25 years. He began his career at EWU in 1998 as an adjunct faculty member in the PEHR Department, and in 2008, he was appointed Director of Recreation and Athletic Facilities.
Prior to joining EWU, Early worked with the Spokane Parks and Recreation Department as the Aquatics and Adult Sports Director from 1992 to 1998. From 1985 to 1992, he served as a Civilian Outdoor Recreation Director for the U.S. Air Force, with assignments at Fairchild AFB, Mountain Home AFB, Minot AFB, Lowry AFB, and Eglin AFB.
Early earned his Bachelor’s degree in Outdoor Recreation Management from EWU in 1985 and a Master’s in Adult Education from EWU in 2002.
He is married to Jacque, with whom he has two adult children and three grandchildren. When not at work, Early enjoys exploring the beautiful Northwest on a tandem bicycle with his wife of 37 years or working on various projects under the watchful eye of their Beagle, Stu.
