Majesty Tutson

Tutson joined the Eastern staff as the program’s throws coach in 2022. In her first year, she coached three Eagles to conference podium but a total of four podium finishes and six new entries to the EWU All-Time Performance lists, including Carissa Stovall reaching 3rd all-time in the women’s indoor shot put.

Prior to Eastern, Tutson served as an assistant throws coach at the University of New Orleans for the 2021-22 season, and assistant coach at Alabama State from 2016-20. She started at Alabama State as a graduate assistant in 2014.

At New Orleans, Tutson coached two conference champions in the men's and women's hammer, plus two runners up in the women's discus and men's weight throw, including a women's discus school record and a men's discus regional qualifier.

At Alabama State, she helped the Hornets to 11 Indoor SWAC Championships, 7 Outdoor SWAC Championships, 14 Individual Conference champions, 49 Individual All-SWAC selections, and a pair of SWAC championships MVPs.

Tutson earned her undergraduate degree at Iowa, where she was a decorated thrower from 2009-13. She was an All-American discus thrower in 2013 and qualified for NCAA regionals all four years. Tutson was a two-time Big Ten Conference runner-up in the discus and was Iowa's female track and field MVP as a senior. At one point, she held school records in the weight throw (17.78 meters) and discus throw 55.19 meters).

She earned two master's degrees from Alabama State in 2016 and 2019.
