Eastern Washington University Athletics

Rickie Alvarez joined Eastern Washington University in July 2022 as the Director of Philanthropy. Alvarez received the title of Associate Athletic Director, Director of Philanthropy in June 2023, and was promoted to the Athletics Senior Leadership Team with the title of Associate Athletics Director, Development in August 2024. In this role, he oversees all athletics development efforts including major gifts, the Eagle Athletic Fund, sport specific giving, NIL, and special projects. 
 
Alvarez comes to Eastern after serving as the Director of Annual Giving for the Falcon Athletic Fund at the United States Air Force Academy. While at the Academy, Alvarez oversaw the day-to-day annual fund operations, solicited, stewarded, and cultivated a portfolio of prospects, and coordinated special giving initiatives such as Giving Tuesday, Air Power Legacy Series, and A Night of Excellence.
 
Prior to the Academy, Alvarez served as the assistant director of membership benefits for the Red Raider Club at Texas Tech University, the athletics development assistant for the Ram Club at Colorado State University, and as the external operations assistant at the University of Louisiana, Monroe.

A native of Long Beach, Calif., Alvarez earned his bachelor's degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2011 and a master's degree in sport and athletic administration from Gonzaga University in 2013. Alvarez resides in Cheney, Wash., with his wife Jana, and their dog LaLa.
