Victor Houston joined the Eastern Washington track and field coaching staff in 2026, bringing an extensive background as both an accomplished coach and elite international athlete.

Houston came to Cheney after serving as the Associate Head Track and Field Coach at Northern Colorado, where he oversaw the vertical and horizontal jumps and multi-events. Prior to his time with the Bears, Houston spent five seasons at Ohio State, helping the Buckeyes capture six Big Ten team championships and two top-four finishes at the NCAA Championships.

Throughout his coaching career, Houston has mentored 41 NCAA Division I All-Americans and coached an NCAA national champion in the triple jump.

A native of St. Michael, Barbados, Houston enjoyed a decorated competitive career as a two-time Olympian, four-time All-American and NCAA Champion. He represented Barbados at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.

Houston also held multiple Barbados national records, including marks in the 60-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles and decathlon. He is one of the most decorated athletes in CARIFTA Games history, earning 15 medals with six gold, six silver and three bronze.
