GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The Eastern Washington University soccer team defeated North Dakota 2-1 in overtime today (Oct. 6) to remain unbeaten in Big Sky play. This win marked their first road game since Sept. 3 after finishing up a seven-match home stand last Sunday. With this victory, the Eagles improve to 9-4-1 overall and 3-0-1 in the Big Sky.
"Today was just a tough road win against a team that came to play hard against us. Credit to UND for battling and being a physical team with a plan. The field conditions were a worry for our staff going in as it was very chopped up, but our kids handled it fairly well," said head coach
Chad Bodnar. "Teams are always going to be tough to beat on the road in this conference and I'm proud of our kids for finding a way. We weren't as sharp as we usually are in front of goal, but we strung some good stuff together going forward. We just didn't put the final touch on it today. Now we hit the airport and on to Colorado for a very tough UNC team. I'm proud of our kids for grinding one out."
