City of Spokane Declares Saturday EWU “Eag” Day

Mayor David Condon urges citizens to “proudly wear their Eastern Red and cheer the EWU football team to victory” versus Nicholls on Saturday

The City of Spokane and Mayor David Condon have declared a proclamation that Saturday (Dec. 1) is EWU "Eag" Day when the Eastern Washington University football team takes on Nicholls in the second round of the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision Playoffs at Roos Field in Cheney, Wash.

The proclamation from Condon included encouragement for all citizens to "proudly wear their Eastern Red and cheer the EWU football team to victory."

Tickets are still available for the game, which begins at 2 p.m. Pacific time. Roos Field ticket booths will be open beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday, as well as will-call for persons who have already purchased tickets. More information on tickets is available at http://goeags.com/tickets.

The proclamation also acknowledged EWU for its highly-successful Giving Joy Day on Nov. 27; the school's commitment to student success through investment of the new Catalyst Building in Spokane's U-District; and the on-going construction of the Interdisciplinary Science Center on the main EWU campus in Cheney.

In addition, the proclamation recognized EWU for the 50th anniversary of its Africana Studies and American Indian Studies programs at EWU, and the national recognition received from being named a College of Distinction and winning a Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) award.

The proclamation concluded by congratulating the Eastern football team on its 9-2 record and the 10th Big Sky Conference title and 13th FCS Playoff berth in school history. The school's 2017-18 Big Sky Conference Presidents' Cup honor – the school's third in the last four years – was also lauded by Condon.
