FULL RESULTS

GRAND FORKS, N.D. –
The Eastern Washington University women's tennis team closes their weekend on the road after beating North Dakota 6-1 today (Mar. 4). The squad now sits at a 5-5 mark overall and 2-0 in conference.

"This was an extremely tough and competitive match today," said head coach Dustin Hinson. "We faced some adversity and had ups and downs in each match. It's how we responded to those tough moments that ultimately made the difference today -- the kind of determination and fight we displayed out there was inspiring to watch."

The Eagles got the doubles point winning all three doubles matches. Janaya Smith and Rylee Braeden teamed up on the first court to defeat their opponents 7-5, followed by Zoey Nelson and Faye Worrall who also won with a 7-5 score. Stephanie Broussard and Rachel Swindell came out on top in the No. 3 spot with a 6-4 victory.

Smith opened up singles play taking the match to three sets and a tiebreaker but couldn't pull out the win scoring 7-6 (7-5), 3-6, 4-10. This was the only loss of the day. Braeden followed with an Eagle victory in three sets (5-7, 6-1, 10-5) as well as Zoey Nelson who won in two sets (6-1, 6-2). Faye Worrall defeated her opponent (5-7, 6-3, 11-9) in the No. 4 spot and Stephanie Broussard found success at No. 5 (6-2, 6-2). Rachel Swindell closed the day with a 6-3, 6-4 victory.

"Everyone on this squad is hungry for success and that's what I want to see as a coach," said Hinson. "Today they had the will to find a way to come out on top. I'm proud of their drive and determination and I'm happy that they could be rewarded with a win today."

The Eagles continue conference play in two weeks at home against Northern Arizona (Mar. 17) and Idaho State (Mar. 19) For more information on Eastern Washington's women's tennis team, follow @EWUAthletics on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
