The Eastern Washington University football team will be busy at work next week, including a "Team Trash Day" on Monday (April 23) and a special "Lil EKG Day" for kids pre-school through eighth grade in conjunction with the Red-White Game on April 28.
The Eagles will fan across the campus on Monday picking up trash from 3 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. That will be followed by a team meeting in which a draft will take place to pick teams for the upcoming Red-White Spring Football Game on April 28 at 2 p.m. at Roos Field. That game is free and open to the public, and is being televised live by SWX.
Right after the spring game, the football team will invite children ages pre-school to eighth grade down to "The Inferno" to run a few drills and obstacle courses with players. That gathering for "Eastern Kind of Guys/Gals" will be followed by an autograph session. Schedule posters will be distributed beforehand at the Red-White Game.
Also that day, the women's basketball team will be on the streets of Cheney and outside Roos Field collecting donations for the Spokane Guilds' School as part of that organization's 22nd annual Penny Drive.
The Eagles are nearing an end to spring practices, including a scrimmage this Saturday, April 21 (at 11 a.m.). The EWU Football coaching staff will also be hosting a coaches clinic this Friday (April 20) and Saturday at EWU, with Eastern Hall of Famer Dick Zornes delivering the keynote speech. More information on the clinic is available at:
