CHENEY, Wash. – The second week of Big Sky Conference play takes the Eastern Washington University volleyball team to Idaho State and Weber State. The Eagles face the Bengals on Thursday (Sept. 27) at 6 p.m. Pacific time and the Wildcats on Saturday (Sept. 29) at 6 p.m. PT.

GET TO KNOW THE EAGLES: Eastern Washington is 8-6 overall and are 0-2 in conference play after losses to Idaho and Northern Colorado last week. The Eagles will look to snap a three-match win streak this week.
The Eagles have three players that average over two kills per set in
Alexandra Espinosa (2.81),
Kennedy Kaminsky (2.24) and
Kamille Langford (2.00). Kaminsky, a freshman, leads the Eagles with a .241 hitting percentage.
Samantha Boever paces the EWU offense with 9.16 assists per set, totaling 458 on the year. Defensively, both
Puaoolelagi Sao (3.82) and
Catelyn Linke (3.26) average over three digs per set. Linke also leads the team with 18 total service aces.
Kamille Langford leads Eastern with 43 total blocks, averaging .93/set.
As a team, the Eagles are hitting at a .173 clip and allowing their opponents to strike at .195. EWU ranks 27th in the nation and second in the Big Sky with 17.18 digs per set and have 859 on the year.
GET TO KNOW THE BENGALS: The Bengals are tied for second in the Big Sky with a perfect 2-0 conference record and are 8-7 overall. ISU is riding a three-match win streak after wins over Northern Arizona (3-2) and Southern Utah (3-0).
Abby Garrity leads ISU with 3.91 kills/set which is 50
th in the nation. Chelsea Johnson ranks fifth across Division I with 639 total assists, averaging 11.02 per set which is 27
th. Defensively, Haylie Keck is 22
nd in the nation with 294 digs and Brooke Pehrson is sixth in the nation with 77 total blocks.
As a team, the Bengals are hitting .229 which is 94
th in the nation. They also rank 40
th in kills with 752, 66
th in aces (79), 67
th in total blocks (123.0) and 73
rd in total attacks (1,996).
SERIES HISTORY: Thursday marks the 76
th all-time meeting between the two squads. Eastern owns the all-time record, 40-35, but have dropped the last seven straight matches to the Bengals including eight out of the last 10. The Eagles are 16-20 inside Reed Gym. ISU and EWU last met on Oct. 12, 2017 where Eastern lost 3-1 in Cheney.
GET TO KNOW THE WILDCATS: The Wildcats are 6-5 overall and 1-1 in conference play after a win over Southern Utah (3-1) and a loss to Northern Arizona (3-1) last week. They are currently tied for fifth in the Big Sky standings.
Andrea Hale leads the team with 3.67 kills per set and is 61
st in the nation with 10.83 attacks/set. Ashlyn Power ranks 41
st across Division I with 10.69 assists/set, totaling 449 on the year. Defensively, Hannah Hill averages 1.29 blocks per set which is 45
th in the nation. As a team, the Wildcats are swinging .218 and allowing their opponents to hit .214. Additionally, WSU is 35
th in the nation with 2.56 blocks/set.
SERIES HISTORY: Saturday marks the 75
th all-time meeting between the two teams. Eastern owns the all-time record, 43-31 and have won seven out of the last ten. The Eagles are just 13-20 all-time at Weber State. Last season, the teams met on Oct. 26, 2017 in Ogden where Eastern fell in straight sets. The loss snapped a five-match win streak over the Wildcats.
