MATCH NOTES
CHENEY, Wash. – The Eastern Washington University soccer team gears up to face Idaho State on the road this Friday, Oct. 11 at 3 p.m. Pacific time in Pocatello, Idaho. After Friday's match, EWU travels to Ogden, Utah, to compete against Weber State at 11 a.m. PT. on Sunday, Oct. 13.
Last week, the Eagles hosted conference rival Idaho at the EWU Soccer Field and battled to a 3-1 victory. Goals from
Mya Elder-Hammond,
Maddie Morgan and
Brittany Delridge helped secure the win for the Eagles in its lone match of the week.

A LOOK AT THE EAGLES
The Eagles have an overall record of 4-5-2 with a Big Sky Conference record of 1-0-1 following Sunday's victory over the Idaho Vandals. Eastern currently sits in fifth place with four points in the Big Sky behind fourth-place Sacramento State and ahead of sixth-place Northern Arizona.
As a team, the Eagles have scored 15 goals this season and have taken 158 shots, averaging almost 15 shots per game. They have nine different players with at least one goal and six different players with at least one assist.
Individually,
Sariah Keister leads the squad with five goals with one of her goals being a game-winner versus Nevada.
Mya Elder-Hammond trails behind Keister with two goals and one assist while
Saige Lyons has four assists on the season.
Brooke Flores has scored two goals, both were game-winners, and
Riley Walkington,
Taylor Matheny and
Brooke Dunbar each have one goal and one assist.
EWU goalkeeper
Kelsee Winston has started all eleven games racking up 1,047 minutes and recording 41 total saves thus far. She has a .695 save percentage and has recorded one shutout for the Eagles.
KNOWING YOUR OPPONENT – IDAHO STATE
The Idaho State Bengals head into the week with an overall record of 1-11-2 and a conference record of 0-3-1. They are 0-6-1 in their last seven matches with their last victory being on Sept. 13 against Saint Mary's College of California.
The Bengals are coached by Debs Brereton who enters her first season at the helm. As a team, they have scored twelve goals this season and have allowed 33. Michaela Didericksen and Jazmin Lopez lead the team with three goals and one assist each while Makena Bambei trails behind with two goals and two assists.
Idaho State's goalkeeper Katie Hogarth has recorded 1,320 total minutes and has 94 saves on the season, averaging a .740 save percentage.
SERIES HISTORY – IDAHO STATE
The Eagles have an overall series record of 10-12-1 with a four-game win streak against the Bengals. Head coach
Chad Bodnar is 4-1 against Idaho State since being at the helm.
Last season, EWU hosted Idaho State on Senior Day setting a program record for goals scored in a single match after an 8-1 victory. Seven different players scored eight goals including
Sariah Keister,
Saige Lyons and
Megan Drake who scored twice.
Additionally, the Eagles tallied 22 points to set a school record for most points in a single match, recorded the most goals scored by any team in a Big Sky Conference match and the fifth-most overall in conference history and tied a program record for assists in a single match with five.
KNOWING YOUR OPPONENT – WEBER STATE
Weber State is coached by Meagan Thunell who was named the interim head coach in summer of 2019. Her team currently has an overall record of 2-9-1 and a conference record of 1-2-1 with a two-game losing streak. They will face Idaho on Friday, Oct. 11 before hosting EWU on Sunday.
As a team, they have only scored four goals and have allowed 24, putting up 90 total shots. Weber State has four different players with one goal and only one player with one assist. Goalkeeper Nikki Pittman has started nine games for the Wildcats and has recorded 39 saves this season.
SERIES HISTORY – WEBER STATE
The Eagles have an overall series record of 9-14-0 with Bodnar being 4-1 versus Weber State since becoming head coach.
EWU lost to Weber State at home last season 1-0 but prior to that, they won four-straight games against the Wildcats.
Kelsee Winston recorded three saves during the match last season but it was not enough to pick up the victory.

Following the road trip this weekend, Eastern hosts Southern Utah on Oct. 18 at 3 p.m. Pacific time at the EWU Soccer Field.
After the match, the Eagles play host to Northern Arizona on Oct. 20 at 12 p.m. PT at the EWU Soccer Field.
