To provide a safer environment for Eastern Washington University football fans at Roos Field in Cheney Wash., EWU has implemented a new clear bag policy limiting the size and type of bag allowed into the stadium for all events, beginning with EWU's home opener on Sept. 7 versus Lindenwood.
Fans will not be allowed to bring bags into the stadium, except those outlined below:
- Bags that are clear and do not exceed 12" long by 18" high by 6" wide
- One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag
- Small clutch purses, with or without a handle or strap, not exceeding 4.5" by 6.5"
- Exceptions will be made for medically-necessary bags after inspections at any entrance
- When fans are accompanied by a child, diaper bags will be allowed but are subject to inspection
- Prohibited items will not be held during the event and must be returned to vehicles
- Seat cushions without pockets or compartments will be permitted
Prohibited items include, but are not limited to purses or bags larger than a clutch bag, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, luggage of any kind, computer bags, or camera bags. Fans may continue to carry items without a bag (e.g., binoculars, cameras and smart phones) into the stadium.
Exceptions will be made for credentialed media and staff, but bags will be subject to search and tagged for recognition by EWU security personnel.
