COLORADO STATE GAME NOTES
CHENEY, Wash. – The Eastern Washington University soccer team is back in action this Friday, Aug. 30 to compete against Mississippi State at 4 p.m. before facing Colorado State on Sunday, Sept. 1 at 1 p.m.
Fans attending this weekend's games are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items in support of the President's Food Drive. The campus-wide effort will help fully stock the seven EWU food cabinets available for Eastern students in time for fall quarter. A complete list of needed items is at:

Heading into Friday's match, the Eagles and the Mississippi State Bulldogs both start their season 1-1-0. Colorado State, who has a record of 2-0-0, will play against Gonzaga on Aug. 29 before facing the Eagles.

A LOOK AT THE EAGLES
The Eagles are ranked second in the Big Sky Conference behind Northern Arizona who has a record of 1-0-1.
EWU looks promising as
Riley Walkington,
Sariah Keister and
Madison Kem have each recorded one goal on the season.
Saige Lyons and Walkington have also recorded an assist with Keister recording ten shots total for the season.
Keister leads the Big Sky in shots with ten while Walkington is ranked third overall in points with three. Walkington was awarded Offensive Player of the Week on Aug. 27 after recording a goal and an assist in her first two collegiate matches.
Kelsee Winston has recorded 185 minutes for the Eagles with 12 saves and one shutout. Winston has faced 40 shots total, allowing only five goals. She is first in saves in the Big Sky Conference recording 12.
The Eagles are 1-1-0 overall but remain 0-0 for the conference play. They will face their first conference opponent at home on Sept. 27 at 3 p.m. versus Northern Colorado.
KNOWING YOUR OPPONENT – MISSISSIPPI STATE
The Mississippi State Bulldogs are 1-1 following a victory versus Alabama A&M and a loss versus BYU. The Bulldogs are coached by James Armstrong who is entering his first season with Mississippi State.
They welcome 16 newcomers and return 12 players from 2018 including leading goal scorers Zakirah McGillivary and MaKayla Waldner. Sophomore McGillivary earned SEC All-Freshman Team last season recording eight goals for the Bulldogs while Waldner scored seven.
SERIES HISTORY – MISSISSIPPI STATE
Eastern faces Mississippi State for the first time in program history.
This will only be the second time EWU has faced an SEC team in soccer history, the first being against Missouri in 2008 that resulted in a 3-0 deficit for the Eagles.
KNOWING YOUR OPPONENT – COLORADO STATE
The Colorado State Rams head into this match with a record of 2-0 after defeating Marquette and SIUE at home. The Rams are coached by Bill Hempen as he enters his seventh season at the helm and returns 17 players from last season including top goal scorer Caeley Lordemann.
The Colorado State University women's soccer team ended the 2018 season with a 6-9-4 record to finish ninth in the Mountain West. They welcome 12 newcomers that include four transfers and eight freshmen.
SERIES HISTORY – COLORADO STATE
The Eagles are unbeaten against Colorado State with an all-time record of 2-0-0, winning both games by a score of 2-0.
The two teams last faced off on Sept. 7, 2018 where the Eagles shutout the Rams on the road. Returning redshirt sophomore

Kelsee Winston recorded five saves to secure a shutout.
WHAT'S NEXT
Eastern travels away for its next four matches before returning home. On Aug. 6 at 7 p.m. Pacific time, the Eagles will face CSU Bakersfield, followed by a match against CSUN on Aug. 8 at 1 p.m. PT.
The Eagles will compete against South Dakota State on Aug. 13 and South Dakota on Aug. 15 before returning home to face North Dakota State on Aug. 20.
