CHENEY, Wash. - The Eastern Washington University soccer team took on the Colorado State Rams to a 1-1 draw at home in today's match (Sept. 1). The match ran into double overtime for the Eagles but the score remained tied after the final whistle.

The first shot of the match did not come until the 11th minute for the Eagles, but today's match was nothing short of suspenseful. Eastern put up nine shots in the first half, including almost scoring on an opportunity by Brooke Dunbar when she shot the ball to the left side of the net, but it was saved by Colorado State's goalkeeper.

Kelsee Winston recorded her only save in the match following a shot by CSU forward Kristen Noonan in the 20th minute. The Eagles and the Rams would go back and forth sharing shots in the first half, but the score remained 0-0 going into halftime.

Eastern returned from the half facing two shots early by Colorado State but the Eagles managed to keep them away.

Colorado State opened up the scoring in the 63rd minute when Lauren Jones sent the ball 50 yards to Noonan as she calmly collected the ball and put it in the bottom right corner.

After going down 1-0, the Eagles would bounce back with 11 shots before Sariah Keister found the back of the net. Keister scored her second goal of the season in the final 10 seconds of the match when she received the ball on the left side, took one step, and blasted the ball into the top right corner from about 35 yards out.

The shot by Keister sent the Eagles into overtime to hold Colorado State to a 1-1 draw. The Eagles had six shots total in the final two overtime periods but could not capitalize.

After today's match, the Eagles are now 1-2-1 overall while Colorado State is 2-1-1.

Key Stats

The Eagles outshot Colorado State 30-11 recording eight shots on goal versus the Rams' two. EWU recorded nine corner kicks and Kelsee Winston had one save on a break-away effort.

Top Performances

The Eagles had 12 different players record at least one shot during the match. Sariah Keister recorded five shots and scored one goal while Taylor Matheny took the most shots during the match with seven.

The Eagles next match is on the road against CSU Bakersfield on Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. Eastern will be on the road for their next four matches before returning home on Sept. 20 to face North Dakota State.
