Tonight's (Nov. 28) season-opener is on, but the Covid-19 pandemic has forced more changes in the Eastern Washington University men's basketball schedule, including the cancellation of EWU's home opener scheduled for Monday (Nov. 30).
That home contest versus Montana Tech will not be played, but another opponent could replace the non-conference game later in the week. The Eagles were scheduled to open Big Sky Conference play on Dec. 3 and 5, but those games have been moved to Dec. 18 and 19. Eastern will play on back-to-back days with 24 hours between games, but no starting times have been determined as of yet.
Despite the recent changes during a hectic week of adjustments, the Eagles are still scheduled to play at Washington State tonight at 8 p.m. in a game televised by the Pac-12 Networks. It will be EWU's first game since the Eagles wrapped up the outright regular season Big Sky Conference title with a 78-69 over Weber State on March 7, 2020.
Eastern was originally scheduled to play Northwest University on Nov. 30, but Montana Tech was announced as the new opponent on Nov. 25. The opener for EWU versus Oregon scheduled for Nov. 25 was postponed, but no new date has been announced.
