Eagles Announce 2021 “Touchdowns for a Cause”

Partnership with Numerica Credit Union will benefit Second Harvest food bank

Eastern Washington University Athletics and Numerica Credit Union -- the Official Credit Union of EWU Athletics – have announced their revitalized "Touchdowns For a Cause" campaign for the 2021 winter/spring football season.

The partnership is highlighted by a donation of $100 to Second Harvest food bank for each touchdown scored by the Eagles in the winter/spring season in 2021.  Eastern begins its six-game schedule on Feb. 27 at Idaho and hosts Northern Arizona the following week on March 6.

The Touchdowns and Tailgates for a Cause activations have been a marquee feature of recent partnerships with Eagles Sports Properties, a Learfield IMG College property and exclusive multimedia rights holder of EWU Athletics, and the EWU community, including integration of the Numerica Credit Union Red Zone tailgate event at EWU Football home games. Over the past four years, Numerica Credit Union has donated more than $10,000 to local area non-profit organizations through this partnership. Beneficiaries besides Second Harvest include Community Cancer Fund, Boys & Girls Clubs of Spokane, Faye's House and other area charities.

"Numerica's Touchdowns for a Cause promotion allows us to give back to our community while cheering on the Eags," said Kim Pearman-Gillman, senior vice president of corporate and community relations. "We are grateful to help raise funds and awareness this football season for families impacted by food insecurity."

"Much like Eastern's football season has been turned upside down, so has the process of acquiring and distributing food during the pandemic," said Jason Clark, President and CEO of Second Harvest. "It's truly a team effort, and we are so thankful to Numerica and EWU for their support in our work to feed hungry people across North Idaho and Eastern Washington. Go Eags!"

Fans can join in the challenge by making donations to Second Harvest throughout the EWU Football season for a chance to win Numerica Credit Union Spirit Packs. The packs include EWU branded gifts as fans are challenged to help score a touchdown for Second Harvest. The $100 contributed per touchdown is equivalent to nearly 500 meals in the local Spokane community. The partnerships aim is to continue to tackle food insecurities in the Eastern Washington region.
