"We came out pretty flat today and were on our heels for the first half. We played much better in the second half and had a lot of chances. We just could never find the back of the net this weekend," said head coach
Chad Bodnar. "We will get better in our bye week and hopefully heal some people up and come back ready to go. I give credit to our backline and goalie
Kelsee Winston for two shutouts though. They played very well."
EWU goalkeeper
Kelsee Winston was called upon early in the match to make several saves in the early stages of the first half as the Eagles were out-shot 8-1 by SAC in the first 45 minutes. In the 37
th minute,
Riley Walkington would find a gap and let off a shot but it landed in the hands of Hornet goalkeeper Aaliyah Fesili and the score read 0-0 headed into the break.
Following halftime, Winston was called upon once again to make a crucial save in the opening 15 minutes of the second half. However, Eastern responded with shots of its own in seven different players, out-shooting SAC 9-4, including a beamer from

Within the first 90 minutes of regulation, EWU could not find the back of the net and the match score remained tied at 0-0.
Eastern started the first overtime period with a shot from

Brittany Delridge that was collected by the hands of the Hornet goalkeeper. Terrill found another opportunity for a shot, along with
McKaley Goffard, but they both could not capitalize after the first 10 minutes of overtime.
The second overtime period was dominated by the Eagles as they saw two crucial opportunities to score, including a promising chance by
Taylor Matheny that flew out right. In a frantic 18 seconds left in the match, the Eagles would get one last opportunity after Fesili failed to clear the ball from a goal kick as it found the feet of
Maddie Morgan who took one touch around the defender and fired off a left-footed shot that was saved.
