Eagle Nation,
We are so appreciative of the public support Eagle Athletics continues to receive, and that enthusiasm was reaffirmed today as our Board of Trustees voted to accept interim President David May's recommendation that our program remain at a Division I FCS level and stay committed to membership in the Big Sky Conference.Â
Our campus leadership accepted the task of objectively reviewing Athletics and our role within the University and the community. On behalf of all Eastern Washington University Athletics, I would like to thank all those involved for engaging in this exercise. It was a thoughtful ten-month process that took the care to examine a multitude of data. We are so pleased that many of you participated in many facets of the review to assist our Board of Trustees in arriving at today's decision.
ARE YOU ALL IN? With their announcement supporting Division I FCS Athletics, our Board of Trustees presented Eagle Nation with a significant call to action. If our expectations to excel in the Big Sky Conference are to be met, we will need your support in ticket sales, philanthropic gifts to the Eagle Athletic Fund, and major gifts for facility projects. The time is now and work has already begun to further solidify our program and to keep EWU Athletics one of the best in the nation.
Thanks once again for the administrative and Trustee support that Eagle Athletics received today. Also, a big thank you to our fans, donors, alumni, and corporate partners who have continued to stand by our program as we demonstrated the strength of a convocation. I am so proud of the Grit, Grace, and Gratitude our coaches and students have exhibited throughout the last 15 months. Eagle Athletics is strong and we will come out of this experience even stronger.
We are committed to making adjustments, examining and reexamining our processes and protocols--we will do the work that is needed--and we will strengthen our bonds and be intentional in our engagement and leadership throughout our campus and community. We will do this together, united, and working for the common goal to continue to build a university that is a center of excellence for the entire region. We will stay EAGLE STRONG as we represent the most magnificent creature in the sky, the Eagle. Join me as we get to work.

GO EAGS!
